When this girl was young, she loved country music but faced rejection due to this in school. Now, she has made a career out of being a famous musician.

She had difficulty exhibiting her talent early on, but as she became more confident, she began to perform in more places and share her voice with the world.

These days, her voice is one of the most beloved in the world. She began her career singing country music but said that her peers at school thought she was "weird" for liking the genre and even lost friends because they didn't think she was cool or beautiful enough.

Before she broke into the country music scene, though, she started by singing her national anthem at sporting events. She even got to sing for her favorite team, the Philadelphia 76ers. Her peers also made her feel bad for doing this. She once shared:

"Anything that makes you different in middle school makes you weird."

She tried to fit in by meeting beauty standards and partaking in sports, but she was not talented in that field. However, she soon found that her talent lay in a guitar's strings and vocal cords. When people made fun of her, she would write a song about it, which made her feel better.

Those songs became the soundtrack to many people's lives and have since turned this young woman into a world-renowned musician whose most recent tour has grossed $2.2 billion, boosting the American economy through a demand for entertainment.

How Did the Girl Grow Up?

As a five-year-old, the girl's mother recalls never having to punish her because she would punish herself if she did anything wrong. She grew up in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, but began begging her mother to go to Nashville, Tennessee, after watching a TV special on singer Faith Hill.

One spring break, her mother relented, and they rented a car to drive up and down Music Row. There, she began handing her demo tapes to receptionists at record labels, telling them:

"Hey, I'm eleven, and I want a record deal. Call me."

However, she soon realized this approach wouldn't work, and she needed to learn to play an instrument and sing to get herself a record deal. She even learned to play a twelve-string guitar to prove she could. She continued to be bullied at school, though.

Whenever she was bullied and felt bad, her mother would take her to T.J. Maxx to look at the opal jewelry, which instilled in the girl a love of the stone. She shared that she and her mother never bought jewelry; they would just look at it.

As she grew up, country music proved to be a great comfort to the girl. Her love of female country artists began with her finding a LeeAnn Rimes record when she was only six. She even acted in a children's theater company that had a karaoke machine, which she frequently used.

By the time she was eleven, she knew she wanted a music career and began pursuing it like never before. One of the ways she did this was by partaking in a weekly karaoke contest at the Pat Garret Roadhouse. She performed every week for a year until she finally won.

Her prize was opening for Charlie Daniels at 10:30 a.m. Daniels only performed at 8:30 that night. However, this gave her the confidence to become the performer she is today.

Not only was she well on her way to worldwide fame, but the girl was also incredibly intelligent. She maintained a 4.0 GPA in high school. She was home-schooled for her junior and senior years and finished both within twelve months.

When the girl was in the ninth grade, she signed a record deal with Scott Borchetta, who once quipped that he had written the girl "some very big checks" since then. Once she had signed an agreement and moved to Nashville with her family at fifteen, something incredible happened.

Recalling it in an interview, she shared that she saw the girls who had bullied her when she performed in her hometown. They were wearing her T-shirts, and they asked her to sign their C.D.s.

She found this bittersweet as the girls didn't seem to remember being mean to her, and she knew she also had to let it go. She didn't want to offend her fans and wanted to stay "proper" and move on. She also credited them in a way for her success. She joked:

"And really, if I hadn't come home from school miserable every day, maybe I wouldn't have been so motivated to write songs. I should probably be thanking them!"

Despite all her success, in 2009, the girl said she still hadn't reached a level she wanted to be at and didn't think she would ever feel like she had "made it" in the music industry.

Who Is the Girl?

To this day, Taylor Swift still experiences bullying but has now learned to deal with it in a way that her 15-year-old self would never have been able to. She has learned that not being affected by the bullying can be as simple as laughing at the situation.

Swift has discovered that bullies seek to be taken seriously and to be feared. However, Swift uses humor to combat this. When people started calling her a snake, she brought out a giant inflatable cobra at all her concerts.

Although she knows that it is unlikely she will get an apology from everyone who has ever done her wrong, she enjoys the satisfaction of knowing that she survived it and is thriving despite it all.
