Sometimes life mimics art, and for Julie and Scott Gaede's children, it felt like they were recreating the iconic 1998 film "Parent Trap" starring Lindsay Lohan.

It all started in 1997 when Julie and Scott got married. Julie's sister and brother-in-law set the couple up, and two weeks into their relationship, Scott was sure they had a future together.

The couple welcomed their children, Rachel and Caroline, in 1999 and 2003, but in 2014, they decided to go their separate ways. Looking back at the breakup, Julie believed communication was the center of the demise of her marriage.

Julie and Scott finalized their divorce in 2018. They kept a co-parenting relationship but moved on with their lives and even dated other people. But things changed in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic turned everyone's life around.

Rachel and Caroline lived with their mother as she had to be there for their grandmother. So, to ensure she was protected from the virus, the family had strict regulations that everyone was expected to follow.

Even Scott had to be a team player to see his daughters. But this was when Rachel and Caroline started to feel like they were living in the "Parent Trap" film. As their father spent more time with them, the girls noticed a spark between their parents.

Rachel even confronted her mother, telling her she had a crush on Scott, but Julie denied it. Not long after this conversation, the mother of two returned to her daughter's room and admitted, "I have to tell you something. I think I have a crush on your dad."

While Scott and Julie were trying to figure out their newfound love, it became clear that they would give their relationship another try when Scott tragically lost both his parents. At the funeral, Julie realized there was nothing they could not work on and needed to be together.

The parents wanted to make things right the second time, so they decided to take a trip to the Pacific Northwest to iron out any wrinkles from the past. The couple said if one of their daughters had expressed reluctance about them getting back together, they would not have rekindled their relationship.

Fortunately, the children were excited to see their parents fall in love again. Rachel said it was exciting to watch because things felt different. "I think what was so special is getting to watch that happen and getting to see them love each other for the people that they had become as individuals," expressed Rachel.

After the trip, Julie and Scott moved back in together but were in no rush to get married. But when Julie's mother started having more health issues, they wanted to ensure that they shared the experience with her.

So, Rachel and Caroline started to get to work, planning the ultimate parent trap. It started with getting their mother ready for the engagement, ensuring she had the perfect outfit and nails. According to the daughters, their mother was not in the greatest mood on the day, but it all made perfect sense once the surprise was revealed.

From the proposal came the big day. Julie and Scott made their union official almost ten years after being separated. They tied the knot on December 28, 2023, and had their nephew, a ring bearer at their first wedding, officiate their second one. Julie wore a dress with elements from her initial one, and her daughters wore blue dresses, her favorite color.

Rachel and Caroline had been documenting the lead-up to their parents' big day. On the day they got married, they shared a video saying the "WAR IS OVERRRRRR," and that they were no longer children of divorce. To seal the deal, they captioned the sweet video "Successful parent trap."

Julie and Scott are excited about the new chapter. They appeared on Today and expressed that they are finally getting used to their new marriage, especially since their daughters had left the nest.
