How Did Moran and Her Husband Become Poor and Homeless?

After Moran and Ferguson's marriage ended, the actress squandered her settlement money. She began experiencing personal and financial struggles, which did not end, even after her marriage to Fleischmann.

Things became worse for the duo, and in 2010, they were forced to sell their home in Palmdale, California. They then moved in with Fleischmann's mother, who lived in a trailer park in Indiana.

However, things became rougher than they were, and two years after their move, Moran and her husband became homeless. The actress was spotted moving from one cheap hotel to another in southern Indiana.

Moran never recovered from the financial problems until her demise. She was confirmed dead on April 22, 2017, after being found unresponsive in her home in Indiana. According to the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, she died due to stage four cancer.

So, he thought it was best that Erin Moran stayed with him and died in her sleep. On January 25, 2017, days after the actress's death, her "Joanie Loves Chachi" co-star Scott Baio shared an open letter from the late star's husband on Facebook, which detailed how Moran's health deteriorated.

Fleischmann noted how his wife felt fine on their wedding anniversary on November 23, 2016, but four or five days later, she woke up with a dime-sized blood stain on her pillowcase. She initially thought she'd bitten her tongue in her sleep.

However, days later, there was a more significant blood stain, and four days into December, there was more blood. The couple eventually went to an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) specialist who got a biopsy done, and it came back showing that Moran had squamous cell carcinoma.

Chemotherapy, on Thursdays, and radiation, five days weekly, began, but things got worse quickly. The celebrity couldn't speak, eat, or drink by mid-February and had a feeding tube implant put in to feed her six to eight times daily, with Fleischmann adding:

"She was still happy, she was active, she texted people on her phone all day."

By the 21st, she started struggling to breathe, and the following day, she wasn't feeling very well. After going to get some Kleenex from the store, he found her watching television in bed, and Fleischmann lay next to her, not knowing how bad her diagnosis was.

He held her right hand with his left, and they fell asleep. One hour later, he woke up to Moran's dead body by his side. The actress's husband said the cancer had spread to her spleen.
