The couple's wedding was in a few weeks, and all the bridesmaids and boyfriends were in town. The couple decided on a small wedding, so not much wedding stuff needed to be done. The group of friends just stayed in, but the conversation eventually revolved around the upcoming wedding.

The Redditor's soon-to-be wife, Cara, excitedly showed her bridesmaids some of the details of her dress. Later on, the groom overheard a conversation between one of the bridesmaids, Beyotche, and her boyfriend, Dave.

He admitted that he was not the biggest fan of Dave. He believed Dave's claim to being an introvert was just an excuse to be deliberately unkind in public. Since he was with Beyotche, the groom had to deal with him, but deep down, he hoped they would break up.

As the groom was getting something to drink from the fridge, he overheard Dave and his girlfriends speaking about his wife-to-be. "Well, at least we know you'll look hotter than the bride," said Dave. The Redditor tried to be more silent with his moves to listen to the conversation further.

Beyotche then added, "I mean, was there really any chance I wouldn't be?" She laughed, then muttered, "I mean, sure, she lost a ton of weight, but she's still fatter than me."

The groom was taken aback by the couple's mean comments about his wife and did not know what to do with the information. Dave and his girlfriend had no idea that the Redditor heard them, but he had been digesting what he heard and struggled to decide whether to tell his fiancée about it.

Since the wedding preparations had been going smoothly, and Cara hadn't had any meltdowns, he did not want these cruel words to be the one thing that ruined their wedding.

So the groom turned to his fellow Reddit users to ask if he should tell his wife what her bridesmaid had said about her. One commenter advised the husband-to-be to tell Cara. However, the user suggested he leave out the weight comment and only tell her that her bridesmaid planned on outshining her at her wedding.

For this commenter, it was important for Cara to know before her wedding because it was better than finding out after her big day and being stuck with having Beyotche in her wedding pictures forever. Another person seconded the commenter's remarks. They believed it was best for the bride to decide if she wanted Beyotche at her wedding or not.

The Reddit user also advised against the groom confronting the bridesmaid by himself because this was something that affected Cara, so keeping it a secret would be a disservice to her. On the contrary, one netizen suggested speaking to the bridesmaid first and only turning to Cara if Beyotche was dismissive of the conversation. Dealing with that kind of betrayal from a close friend was the last thing she needed on her big day.

Another netizen expressed that if they were in Cara's position, they would have wanted to know if a close friend was speaking rudely about them behind closed doors. They believed the comment Beyotche made on her weight was also low, "Thin does not mean pretty," said the Reddit user, adding that there were bad personalities that can make a person ugly, too.

Regardless of how the groom decides to approach the situation, the majority of the commenters advised him to be honest with Cara as she had the right to know the kind of people she was calling close friends.
