The Wire was a crime drama TV series created by David Simon that ran for five seasons on HBO – from June 2, 2002, to March 9, 2008.

Dominic West

West took to the role of Jimmy McNulty, a detective who had a serious problem with alcohol. After landing that role, he worked on different projects including John Carter, The Affair, and the Tomb Raider reboot.

Wendell Pierce

Pierce portrayed Lieutenant Bunk Moreland in The Wire, a role that was perfect for him. Years later, Pierce and David Simon worked together again on Treme, a post-Katrina drama set in New Orleans.

Idris Elba

This actor had an impressive career before landing the role of Stringer Bell in The Wire, so it wasn’t surprising that Elba worked in movies like 28 Weeks Later, the Thor movies, and The Dark Tower.

Williams portrayed Omar Little, also known as the inner-city Robin Hood. After the show, he worked on a different HBO series titled Boardwalk Empire and then on NBC Community. Williams is set to join the Star Wars universe in the upcoming Han Solo prequel.

The actor who portrayed Lt. Daniels in the show kept working in other important TV shows, including Lost, Fringe, and American Horror Story. He also appeared in the two John Wick movies.

Clarke Peters

Peters, who portrayed Det. Lester Freamon in The Wire, joined Simon and Pierce in Treme when the show ended. Apart from that, he started in the ITV’s Jericho series and Jessica Jones.
